Apichatpong Weerasethakul winning the Palme d'Or
at Cannes is truly exciting.
he is one of my favorite directors and certainly deserves the praise.
i cannot wait to see this film.

look here to see him receive the award from one of my other favorite people,
Charlotte Gainsbourg.
it really makes me happy (i.e. heart melting)
to see them stand next to each other.

Abbas Kiarostami was in the audience too.
perhaps they all had a chat.

(and of course i am eagerly awaiting A.K.'s new film as well)

yeah totally! it's been a good week for film. apparently jafar panahi was released from prison today too! - dan

hey you! i've been thinking 'bout ya. i didn't think you read this silly thing...

that is good news about jafar panahi! i sort of felt bad not mentioning him. that situation (and Iran in general) is so heartbreaking.
