oregon painting society

"Our path runs between the appealing but naïve impulse to, “get back to the garden”, as Joni Mitchell says, and knowing that the garden is a dream and to be willfully naïve is the same as being ignorant and ignorance leads to horrors. We’ve made talismanic and musical brooms to sweep clear the path. The brooms are gathered stems of grain fixed to wooden staves, which we’ve equipped with guitar strings and contact microphones. The brooms are our banners, the emblems of our society."
